Iridology

Your iris (the coloured circle around the pupil) is the only visible aspect of your nervous system. It has approximately 28,000 nerve fibres and a rich supply of blood vessels. As these nerve fibres and blood vessels are connected to every other part in your body via your nervous and vascular systems, the iris effectively provides us with a screen to view events that have occurred or could potentially occur all over your body.

An Iridologist will look at the structure and markings in your iris, pupil and sclera (the white of the eye) and make inferences from this information as to how the various organs and metabolic systems of your body are functioning. He/she will also be able to get a view of your genetic potential for health/disease. This can help you take preventive action against illnesses that you may not have experienced symptomatically as yet.

The eye examination involves illuminating your eye and observing it through a magnifying device. Some Iridologists may take a photograph of your iris. The information contained in your iris is vast and can change over time. The Iridologist has to use his/her judgement to combine the information in your iris with your case history to identify the areas that are most relevant at the time of your visit. During subsequent visits your Iridologist may focus on other areas.

The inferences that an Iridologist makes are normally presented to you in a verbal or written report.  This report can be used in conjunction with any diagnoses that you may have obtained from other health professionals (within orthodox or complementary medicine) as a basis for tailoring a therapeutic protocol for you.

In this way Iridology provides you with a non-invasive and instantaneous diagnostic tool to assist you in finding the root cause of any chronic or acute symptoms that you suffer from now. It can also provide you information on illnesses that you may be susceptible to in the future. It is an excellent starting point for any general health check program.

An Iridologist is likely to have also trained in other disciplines that provide a therapy for your health/disease profile e.g. Acupuncture, Herbalism, Homoeopathy, Nutrition, Osteopathy, etc. His/her therapeutic recommendations will reflect these areas of expertise. As part of a wider remedial strategy he/she may also recommend seeing other specialists outside his/her therapeutic expertise within orthodox or complementary medicine.

Naturopathy

The basic premise that Naturopathy is founded upon is that our body is designed to be healthy. As part of this design our body has a number of homoeostatic processes that are meant to restore it to a state of health when it encounters illness.  From this it follows that Naturopathic treatments involve enhancing our body’s inbuilt functionality to restore a state of health. Under this broad definition aspects of most orthodox and complementary therapies can be seen as Naturopathic.

A corollary of the above premise forms another guiding principle of Naturopathy - the avoidance of treatments that take over, suppress or intervene with the body’s inbuilt functionality. This is where Naturopathy tends to differ from the current orthodox drug based therapies.

The foundation for good health is lifestyle. A Naturopath will review and advise on various aspects of your lifestyle like diet, exercise, relaxation, etc. In addition, depending upon his/her diagnosis and areas of expertise, he/she is likely to suggest other treatments e.g. herbal, osteopathic, homoeopathic, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, massage, counselling, etc.

Herbalism

Herbal medicine, also known as phytotherapy, is the science of using plants to promote health or treat illnesses. Most cultures have at some point used  plants as the basis for their medicine.

A large number of drugs currently used in orthodox medicine also have their origin in plants. However unlike drugs, which have a limited number of active ingredients, herbal remedies are a complete product of nature with innumerable active constituents that have a synergistic effect making the whole greater than the sum of the parts. This is becoming increasingly obvious as our knowledge of biochemistry expands.

There are herbal remedies for almost every illness that we experience. Once we realise this we can appreciate that Nature has provided us with a vast and effective pharmacy that is often right on our doorstep.

Aman is a qualified Master Herbalist.

Colourpuncture

Electromagnetic waves can affect our health positively or adversely. This fact is recognised by both orthodox and complementary medicine. We experience electromagnetic waves in various forms. For example:
Sunlight is the trigger that starts the metabolic pathway that produces vitamin D in our body.
Infra-red rays are used for pain relief.
New born babies with jaundice are treated with light.
Laser beams are used for surgical procedures.
X-Rays are used as a diagnostic tool.

Electromagnetic waves are also an integral part of our body. A very important part of our internal communication systems – the nervous system – is powered by electricity. We are familiar with electroencephalography (EEG) which is used extensively in orthodox medicine to measure brain activity.

In an emerging model of the human body each one of us is seen as a unique electromagnetic field. Our physical body is seen as a projection of our electromagnetic body. Physical illnesses are correlated with disturbances in our electromagnetic selves. Therapies like Acupuncture, Acupressure, Reflexology and Shiatsu use this fact to achieve their results. Within this model it is possible to see how illnesses can be caused by electromagnetic smog generated by mobile phones, high tension electrical wires, geopathic stress, etc.

Colourpuncture addresses the electromagnetic aspect of our body. Electromagnetic waves of specific wavelengths within the visible spectrum are applied to specific reflex points in the body to produce a healing effect. This is a non-invasive therapy and can achieve remarkable results in the treatment of both acute and chronic symptoms. It can also be used to treat weaknesses that we are genetically pre-disposed to.

Children tend to respond very well to Colourpuncture treatments.

Aman has trained in Colourpuncture at The Institute for Colourpuncture.
